TAYLOR SWIFT, seven-time GRAMMY Award winner and Billboard Magazine’s recently named Woman of the Year (the only artist to have been awarded this honor twice), will exclusively unlock "Welcome To New York" on iTunes on Tuesday, October 21, giving her fans a new track and a peek at what is to come from the most highly anticipated album this year, 1989 (Big Machine Records). "Welcome To New York" is written by Taylor Swift and Ryan Tedder (One Republic) and produced by Ryan Tedder, Noel Zancanella and Taylor Swift. This is the third song revealed from 1989, Taylor’s forthcoming fifth studio album, while the current single, “Shake It Off,” remains atop the charts across the globe.

“I started the album with “Welcome To New York” because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years,” said Taylor. “It’s like an electric city, and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism. I saw New York as a place of endless potential and possibilities and you can hear that reflected in this music and in this song.”

Taylor Swift, who writes all of her own songs, is a global superstar, seven-time GRAMMY winner and the youngest winner in history of the music industry's highest honor, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. She is the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist in history) to log six or more weeks at #1 in the U.S. with three consecutive studio albums. COUNTRY ICON GLEN CAMPBELL TO RELEASE LAST SONG HE EVER RECORDED

    September 8, 2014 0 Comments

Honored in 2012 with the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell has recorded his last song.

“I’m Not Gonna Miss You” was written by Campbell and Julian Raymond specifically for a new documentary titled GLEN CAMPBELL: I’LL BE ME. Produced by Raymond, the song was recorded in the Los Angeles-based Sunset Sound Factory and East West Recording Studios. The song will be released on September 30 to all digital retailers.

With a mere handful of piano chords, then a swell of harmonies, “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” opens into the poignant, yet clear-eyed revelation of the things Alzheimer’s steals. Almost lumbering through the melody, Campbell’s weathered tenor confesses the painful truths of what is lost, the cost – and the reality that it will all be lost to him, the man who can’t remember. Pedal steel weeps, strings bathe the melody that rises against drums and an electric guitar that mirrors the unbreakable passage of life and time.

GLEN CAMPBELL: I’LL BE ME is an epic human drama that intimately showcases the man and his music throughout Campbell’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. Chronicling the story of love, laughter, resilience and power of song, this film shows how against all odds, America’s greatest country star would not give up. Directed and produced by James Keach (producer of Walk The Line) and produced by Trevor Albert (Groundhog Day), GLEN CAMPBELL: I’LL BE ME will open in theaters in New York on October 24, followed by a national release to 50 cities.

Big Machine Records will proudly release a soundtrack for the film that also features The Band Perry, who previously paid tribute to Campbell during the 2012 GRAMMY Awards. The project also features Campbell’s daughter Ashley who performs an original song.

“We are so honored to not only release Glen Campbell’s final recording, but to be associated with such a profound film that will help raise awareness of those suffering from Alzheimer’s and spotlight the important role of those who care for them, ” remarked Big Machine Label Group President & CEO Scott Borchetta who serves as the project’s Executive Producer with Keach.

Previewing the full body of work, GLEN CAMPBELL: I’LL BE ME SOUNDTRACK EP will be released on September 30 and include the following tracks:

    1. I'm Not Gonna Miss You
    2. Gentle On My Mind (performed by The Band Perry)
    3. Home Again (performed by Ashley Campbell)
    4. Wichita Lineman (Live from Ryman Auditorium)
    5. A Better Place (Live from Ryman Auditorium)

A complete soundtrack featuring additional tracks from the film will be released later this fall.

Additionally, several of today’s biggest musical stars appear in the film to pay tribute to the legend including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge (from U2), Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith, and The Band Perry.

1989 is a touchstone; Taylor's songwriting and sonic evolution surprises us more than ever before. Heavily keyboard and beat driven, the pop sensibilities that have always been the hallmark of Taylor’s music now move front and center on 1989. "I spent two years making 1989. Two years gives you enough time to grow and change and let things inspire you. I was listening to a lot of late 80's pop music and how bold those songs were and how that time period was a time of limitless possibilities. In thinking about that, this album is a rebirth for me. This is my very first documented, official pop album. 1989 is the most sonically cohesive album I have ever made and my favorite album I have ever made," said Taylor. Taylor debuted “Shake It Off,” the first single, available at iTunes now, and video (which can be viewed at TaylorSwift.com) from 1989 in a worldwide Live Stream on Yahoo, where she told fans, “Over the last few years I've learned a very important lesson. We cannot control what people say about us but we can control how we react to it. We can let it get to us, make us bitter, even drive us insane or we can shake it off.”

Taylor surprised fans by revealing the 1989 Swiftstakes™ that gives fans an opportunity to win prizes that include 1,000 tickets and 500 meet and greets.

The songstress also explained that a Deluxe version of the album will include three additional songs and three songwriting voice memos. These memos are personal audio recordings that offer a unique insight into Taylor's songwriting process and document the early creation of three songs on 1989, which are available at Target stores in both the U.S. and Canada.

1989 Album Configurations Include: The 1989 album will include 13 songs, cd booklet designed by Taylor, one of five collectible sets of 13 exclusive photo prints, and a code to enter the 1989 Swiftstakes™.
