Record Label Sponsors Music-Themed Events For Fourth Consecutive Year at Historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway

NASHVILLE, TN (June 23, 2014) – With a stellar line-up of Country music's hottest artists, Big Machine will bring a unique experience to the “Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard powered by BigMachineRecords.com” weekend for the fourth consecutive year. THE BAND PERRY, JUSTIN MOORE and BRANTLEY GILBERT will headline concerts throughout the Brickfest Music Festival on Saturday (7/26) and Sunday (7/27) at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Music and racing fans alike will also be introduced to talented newcomers like A THOUSAND HORSES and DRAKE WHITE during the full weekend of entertainment, which is free with track admission each day.

At last month's 2014 CMT Music Awards, Justin announced Green Beret John Wayne Walding as the namesake honoree of the 21st running of the “Crown Royal ‘Your Hero’s Name Here’ 400 at the Brickyard.” This year, Brantley will close out the festivities just before the green flag is waved to begin the big race.

More details on the full schedule for performers below will be revealed in the coming weeks:

THE BAND PERRY has ascended to dizzying heights since releasing their Platinum-certified self-titled debut album and Gold-certified PIONEER on Republic Nashville. The ACM Vocal Group of the Year's string of four #1 smashes include the 5X Platinum "If I Die Young," Platinum “Better Dig Two” and Gold “DONE.," among others. The sibling trio will join Blake Shelton on his TEN TIMES CRAZIER TOUR this summer, in addition to their own dates.

JUSTIN MOORE added a second consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard Country Albums Chart to his list of accolades with OFF THE BEATEN PATH (The Valory Music Co.), which has already produced two consecutive chart-toppers – “Point At You” and “Lettin’ The Night Roll." The reigning ACM New Artist of the Year will hit the road with Miranda Lambert’s PLATINUM TOUR this fall.

BRANTLEY GILBERT is dominating with his chart-topping new album JUST AS I AM (The Valory Music Co.), which marked his first #1 Billboard Country Albums debut and notched the third highest Top 200 album debut of 2014. The album has already produced the Platinum-certified #1 hit “Bottoms Up” and the Top 20-and-rising “Small Town Throwdown,” featuring labelmates Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett.

Justin Moore Announced Green Beret As Namesake of Brickyard 400 During CMT Music Awards Live Broadcast

    June 9, 2014 0 Comments

When Green Beret John Wayne Walding attends his first NASCAR race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July, he’ll see a familiar name plastered around the historic race track – his own.

Walding was announced the winner of Crown Royal’s annual “Your Hero’s Name Here” program, which awards naming rights to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at IMS to a deserving American hero, during last night’s live broadcast of the CMT Music Awards. As the winner, Walding’s name will be incorporated into the official race title, the Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com.

Walding, of Little Elm, Texas, is a highly decorated Army veteran who served for 12 years, completing tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. While overseas in 2008, Walding was involved in a fire fight during a mission to capture a high value target, during which he lost the lower part of his right leg.

After recovering from his injury, Walding was the first amputee to graduate the Special Forces Sniper School. He completed the Army 10 miler on foot and the 2009 Boston Marathon utilizing a hand cycle, within a year of the accident. Among Walding’s many awards and badges are the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantry Badge. Walding was nominated for the program by his brother and lives in Little Elm with his wife Amy and their four children. He is the founder of Five Toes Custom, which employs wounded veterans in an effort to provide support and direction within their lives.

“The fact that Crown Royal cares enough to say ‘thank you’ for what I’ve done is a true validation for my sacrifice,” said Walding following the unveil event. “The magnitude of those two words goes above and beyond.”

On hand to take part in the program’s winner reveal event for the third year in a row was Country music star and reigning ACM New Artist of the Year Justin Moore. Moore presented Walding with a custom-made Gibson guitar bearing the official race logo incorporating Walding’s name and thanked him for his service during the award show broadcast.

“To be able to be involved in this program’s winner reveal event for the third year in a row is really special to me,” said Moore. “We’ve had the opportunity to meet so many amazing heroes over the years and are looking forward to honoring John Wayne at the Brickyard this summer.”

Walding was joined in Nashville by the other four program finalists, Tara Hulett of Albany, N.Y.; James Bailey of Pamplin, Va.; Bryce Boyer of Wanship, Utah; and Tyler Whisenhunt of Gentry, Ark. The five finalists were selected from thousands of nominations submitted to CrownRoyalHeroes.com, and consumers 21+ voted for the hero they thought was most deserving of the honor.

“The sacrifices that have been made by John Wayne Walding and countless heroes across the country serve as an inspiration to all of us at Crown Royal,” said Abby Wise, Brand Director for Crown Royal. “We’re excited to provide Walding a small token of our gratitude by renaming the NASCAR race at the famed Brickyard in his honor.”

As part of the grand-prize package, Walding will take part in a VIP at-track experience that will include garage tours, pace car rides and concerts by Big Machine Label Group artists. He’ll cap off the weekend by delivering the trophy bearing his name to the race winner in Victory Lane.

“We’re proud to participate in Crown Royal ‘Your Hero’s Name Here’ program for the third consecutive year,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “It’s been an honor to welcome so many great American heroes to our events and we’re anxious to host John Wayne for a great weekend of racing.”

While raising a glass to the heroes in your life, Crown Royal reminds consumers to please drink responsibly.

BMLG Artists The Band Perry + others to Perform Sunday July 29 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

    July 19, 2012 0 Comments

The Band Perry will headline a live performance Sunday, July 29 before the Crown Royal Presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard powered by BigMachineRecords.com at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The lineup also includes several other country artists on the Big Machine Label Group roster. One of the most popular and accomplished groups to hit the country music scene in years, The Band Perry will play a pre-race mini concert on the IMS main straightaway prior to the 1 p.m. start of the 19th annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Other stars performing between 8:30-11 a.m. on Race Morning at IMS include Justin Moore, Sunny Sweeney, Greg Bates and The Mavericks, whose lead singer Raul Malo will sing the national anthem. These performances will take place on the infield stage inside Turn 2, near the IMS Hall of Fame Museum.

•The Band Perry: Featuring an eclectic sound that combines classic country music with elements of rock, gospel and soul, The Band Perry’s music is recognized for its perfect three-part harmonies. The group’s self-titled debut album was released by Republic Nashville in October 2010 and was certified platinum one year later. While touring this summer, the sibling trio is writing and recording its second album. Recent honors for The Band Perry include a 2012 Grammy nomination for Vocal Group of the Year. In 2011, the group was named New Artist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.

•The Mavericks: A country music band formed in 1989, The Mavericks placed more than a dozen songs on the Billboard country charts, which included the 1996 smash hit “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down,” “Here Comes The Rain” and “Dance The Night Away.” The band has won numerous accolades, including Academy of Country Music Awards as Top New Vocal Group and Top Vocal Group in 1994 and as the Top Vocal Group in 1995 as well as a 1995 Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal. In 2003, the band members split up to pursue other musical interests but reunited recently and signed with The Valory Music Co. before kicking off a 2012 tour.

•Justin Moore: Recognized for his high-energy live performances, Justin Moore is wasting little time in climbing the ladder to superstardom. Moore has toured with some of the biggest names in country music, including Trace Adkins and Luke Bryan, and he also appeared on “The Rowdy Frynds Tour” with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. in 2008. He was named Billboard “New Country Artist of 2009” and received nominations for the 2010 CMT Music Awards “Nationwide On Your Side” Award for emerging artists and the Music Row Magazine Breakthrough Artist of 2010. His hometown anthem release of “Small Town USA” hit No. 1 on the country charts, as Moore became the first solo artist to have a song from a debut album climb to No. 1 since Taylor Swift’s “Our Song” in 2007.

•Greg Bates: Up-and-coming country star Greg Bates is a talented singer, guitarist and songwriter who just released his self-titled EP, making a major-label debut on Republic Nashville. A Nashville native who found inspiration by studying country superstars Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam and Alan Jackson, Bates worked on his musical career while majoring in music business at Belmont University.

•Sunny Sweeney: Sassy singer/songwriter Sunny Sweeney recently celebrated her 30th performance on the Grand Ole Opry stage, since debuting in 2007. Over the course of her career, she has not only remained true to her traditional roots while appealing to a contemporary audience but has shared the stage with country icons Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams Jr., as well as today’s hot superstars like Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker. Throughout the summer, Sweeney will open several dates for Blake Shelton, Jerrod Niemann and Miranda Lambert. She is currently writing new material the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed album, “CONCRETE,” which was released in 2011 on Republic Nashville. Sweeney penned seven of the 10 tracks, including "From A Table Away," which is the highest-charting debut single for a female country artist since Taylor Swift more than four years ago.

The 19th annual Crown Royal Presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard powered by BigMachineRecords.com will be the climactic event of the inaugural Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard. The weekend schedule also features the NASCAR Nationwide Series racing in the Indiana 250 Saturday, July 28 on the IMS oval and GRAND-AM Road Racing conducting separate races for its Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge on Friday, July 27 on the 13-turn IMS Grand Prix road course.

It will be the first time in IMS history that races will take place on the 2.5-mile oval and 2.534-mile Grand Prix road course during the same weekend, and the NASCAR Nationwide Series and GRAND-AM Road Racing will make their IMS debuts.
