Big Machine Label Group’s talented artists shined during last night’s fan-voted American Country Awards on FOX, live from Las Vegas, collectively garnering the most wins. The label’s domination reigned with eleven total wins and three captivating performances. Flagship artist Taylor Swift, who is currently on the international leg of her wildly successful RED Tour, was named the Worldwide Artist of the Year.
Florida Georgia Line took home the most accolades of the night with six guitars commemorating Artist of the Year: New Artist and multiple honors for their record-breaking smash “Cruise,” which scored Most Played Radio Track; Most Played Radio Track: New Artist; Single of the Year; Single of the Year: New Artist and Music Video of the Year: New Artist. In the midst of acceptance speeches, the breakthrough duo performed their latest Top 5-and-rising single, “Stay.” FGL confessed to USA Today, “Our fans have blown us away with their loyalty and their support. Just the love that's in the room is awesome."
Three was indeed “the magic number” for Superstar labelmates Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift, along with Keith Urban on guitar, who picked up a trifecta of awards for “Highway Don’t Care.” The team picked up Single of the Year: Vocal Collaboration and Music Video of the Year: Group or Collaboration while the tune, written by Mark Irwin, Josh Kear, Brad Warren and Brett Warren, was named Song of the Year.
The Band Perry earned the Most Played Radio Track: Group for their multi-week #1 “Better Dig Two.”
Two other BMLG artists made a mark last night with their successful debut award show performances of #1 smashes – Justin Moore (“Point At You”) and Thomas Rhett (“It Goes Like This”). According to The Boot, “in just a few minutes, Moore reminded fans in attendance and viewers at home why he is developing such a strong following […] he is going to be vying for superstar status in the near future.” While Taste of Country recounted Rhett’s moment, saying, “the crowd sang the lyrics along with him, and they never stopped dancing.”
The celebration continued during the Big Machine Label Group Crown Royal afterparty at the House of Blues Las Vegas Foundation Room where industry execs, artists, actors and sports stars gathered for camaraderie throughout an extraordinary night. Partygoers were also among the first to sample the new Crown Royal XO product and a Crown Royal whiskey master was on-site to educate the attendees about the special new product.
