THOMAS RHETT STRIKES A CHORD WITH MARTIN GUITAR

    September 9, 2014 0 Comments

C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. proudly invites hit singer/songwriter THOMAS RHETT into their prestigious Martin Ambassador Program today, which honors musicians for their understanding and appreciation of the guitar’s history and craftsmanship. The CMA New Artist of the Year nominee had the unique opportunity to visit their factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, last week before a tour stop to meet Martin’s craftsmen and women, marketing team and Martin’s Chief Product Officer, Fred Greene, to begin discussions on his Custom guitar. He joins a roster of artists across multiple genres, including Ed Sheeran, The Avett Brothers, Colbie Caillat, Jason Isbell, Hunter Hayes, Dierks Bentley, Del McCoury, The Milk Carton Kids, James Valentine of Maroon 5, to name a few.

“Choosing artists to join the Martin Ambassador roster is a responsibility that we take very seriously. A lot of research and consideration goes into the process because, for us, the artists will be a part of a family that is over 181 years old, and we can’t just let anyone join our family,” said Amani Duncan, VP, Brand Marketing, Martin Guitar. “Thomas Rhett is a natural fit and we are so pleased to be able to say ‘Welcome home!’”

Initially earning recognition as a talented songwriter, penning hits for Florida Georgia Line (“Round Here”), Jason Aldean (“1994”), and Lee Brice (“Parking Lot Party”), this latest honor adds to an already stellar year for Thomas Rhett, augmenting the success of his debut album, IT GOES LIKE THIS (The Valory Music Co.), which produced back-to-back #1 singles – Platinum-certified “It Goes Like This” and Gold-certified “Get Me Some of That.” Showcasing electric and acoustic guitar artistry, the project also features the Top 15 hits “Beer with Jesus” and “Something To Do With My Hands” as well as his latest offering, “Make Me Wanna.” The Valdosta, GA native grew up immersed in music, watching father Rhett Akins' success with songs like "That Ain't My Truck" and “Don’t Get Me Started” in addition to penning both of Thomas Rhett's chart-toppers.

"As a kid I always looked up to my dad, who usually had a guitar in his hand, so when I started playing, I knew I'd need a quality guitar," said Thomas Rhett. "It's such an honor for Martin to be so supportive of my career and ask me to be one of their Ambassadors."

Thomas Rhett has long been a part of the Martin Guitar family, playing the handcrafted guitars at his shows and festivals, including the packed crowd at the 2014 CMA Music Festival's Martin Jam Tent. The legendary guitar company chose an ideal ambassador, who is known to “grab his ol’ guitar and play.” He alternates between his D-28, HD-16R Adirondack and Custom Shop Koa HD-16R Martin guitars while on the road with Miranda Lambert’s PLATINUM TOUR. For tour dates and more information, visit thomasrhett.com.

THE VALORY MUSIC CO. announces the signing of LEVI HUMMON to its artist roster, which includes superstar Reba, chart-topping stars Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett as well as legendary band The Mavericks and newcomer RaeLynn. The young Nashville native, whose penchant for songwriting is rooted in his DNA, brings a fresh sound to the Big Machine Label Group imprint.

“As our Country format ebbs and flows, it’s always so important from an A&R perspective to look past what’s happening now and make some moves on the future direction,” said BMLG President & CEO Scott Borchetta. “Levi’s unique vision and incredible artistry is exactly the kind of musical move we want to make now. This is a very significant artist signing.”

Growing up with musical influences all around him, Levi credits his early lessons in songwriting to his Grammy Award winning father, Marcus Hummon ("God Bless The Broken Road") and inspiration from his mother Becca Stevens, who founded the socially conscious and philanthropic organization Thistle Farms. The father-son pair has performed together on multiple stages throughout the years, most recently during the 2014 CMA Music Festival. Through Levi's childhood and studying visual art in college, the 23- year-old storyteller melds his life experiences into honing his craft. Learning to bring his own ideas and unique vision to co-writes, Levi has had the opportunity to collaborate with 2014 ACM Songwriter of the Year Shane MacAnally, Andrew Dorff, Josh Osborne, Jonathan Singleton, Nathan Barlowe Brandy Clark and Trevor Rosen among others. While developing his personal sound during these sessions and on his own, Levi caught the attention of Hall of Fame Songwriter Desmond Child, which lead to "Make It Love" being featured in Two: The Story of Roman & Nero and inclusion on the short list of nominations for the Oscar's Best Original Song.

“It really feels like a dream come true to be a part of the Valory/BMLG family! I've gotten to know a lot of the staff already, and it feels like one big family,” said Levi. “This label home already feels so supportive and is a perfect fit for my music. I also want to give a special shout out to my dad, who has been both a friend and mentor to me through this process, and a huge thank you to Desmond Child and Fletcher Foster for their belief in me." Levi is currently working on his debut album, due out next year. Fletcher Foster's Iconic Entertainment Group will serve as management.

Justin Moore Announced Green Beret As Namesake of Brickyard 400 During CMT Music Awards Live Broadcast

    June 9, 2014 0 Comments

When Green Beret John Wayne Walding attends his first NASCAR race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July, he’ll see a familiar name plastered around the historic race track – his own.

Walding was announced the winner of Crown Royal’s annual “Your Hero’s Name Here” program, which awards naming rights to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at IMS to a deserving American hero, during last night’s live broadcast of the CMT Music Awards. As the winner, Walding’s name will be incorporated into the official race title, the Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com.

Walding, of Little Elm, Texas, is a highly decorated Army veteran who served for 12 years, completing tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. While overseas in 2008, Walding was involved in a fire fight during a mission to capture a high value target, during which he lost the lower part of his right leg.

After recovering from his injury, Walding was the first amputee to graduate the Special Forces Sniper School. He completed the Army 10 miler on foot and the 2009 Boston Marathon utilizing a hand cycle, within a year of the accident. Among Walding’s many awards and badges are the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantry Badge. Walding was nominated for the program by his brother and lives in Little Elm with his wife Amy and their four children. He is the founder of Five Toes Custom, which employs wounded veterans in an effort to provide support and direction within their lives.

“The fact that Crown Royal cares enough to say ‘thank you’ for what I’ve done is a true validation for my sacrifice,” said Walding following the unveil event. “The magnitude of those two words goes above and beyond.”

On hand to take part in the program’s winner reveal event for the third year in a row was Country music star and reigning ACM New Artist of the Year Justin Moore. Moore presented Walding with a custom-made Gibson guitar bearing the official race logo incorporating Walding’s name and thanked him for his service during the award show broadcast.

“To be able to be involved in this program’s winner reveal event for the third year in a row is really special to me,” said Moore. “We’ve had the opportunity to meet so many amazing heroes over the years and are looking forward to honoring John Wayne at the Brickyard this summer.”

Walding was joined in Nashville by the other four program finalists, Tara Hulett of Albany, N.Y.; James Bailey of Pamplin, Va.; Bryce Boyer of Wanship, Utah; and Tyler Whisenhunt of Gentry, Ark. The five finalists were selected from thousands of nominations submitted to CrownRoyalHeroes.com, and consumers 21+ voted for the hero they thought was most deserving of the honor.

“The sacrifices that have been made by John Wayne Walding and countless heroes across the country serve as an inspiration to all of us at Crown Royal,” said Abby Wise, Brand Director for Crown Royal. “We’re excited to provide Walding a small token of our gratitude by renaming the NASCAR race at the famed Brickyard in his honor.”

As part of the grand-prize package, Walding will take part in a VIP at-track experience that will include garage tours, pace car rides and concerts by Big Machine Label Group artists. He’ll cap off the weekend by delivering the trophy bearing his name to the race winner in Victory Lane.

“We’re proud to participate in Crown Royal ‘Your Hero’s Name Here’ program for the third consecutive year,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “It’s been an honor to welcome so many great American heroes to our events and we’re anxious to host John Wayne for a great weekend of racing.”

While raising a glass to the heroes in your life, Crown Royal reminds consumers to please drink responsibly.

BRANTLEY GILBERT’S JUST AS I AM BECOMES ONE OF THE YEAR’S BIGGEST MUSIC DEBUTS

May 28, 2014 By With over 211,000 copies sold, Brantley is among Top 3 best-selling albums of 2014 0 Comments

Brantley Gilbert believes his albums are the chapters of his life and each continues the story where the last left off. With his third studio album JUST AS I AM (The Valory Music Co.), Brantley adds "best seller" to his growing list of accolades upon selling over 211,000 copies in the first week, owning the Billboard Country Albums chart with a #1 debut and becoming the second highest Country debut this year. Brantley's first new music in over four years also scored a spot at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 chart, just behind Coldplay.

JUST AS I AM has received much critical acclaim from top critics at high-profile media outlets:

New York Times: “Mr. Gilbert is a unique sort of brute. In a country era where hardness isn’t valorized in the least, he’s unapologetically rough, singing with the tenderness of a chain saw. And on this strong album — his third in a row — he betrays no shame about his creatine-fueled version of country music…”

Associated Press: “Everybody in Nashville has been predicting Brantley Gilbert will be the next big thing in country music for a couple of years now. His new album, the long-awaited "Just as I Am," is engineered to make that little bit of soothsaying a reality.”

To launch the highly-anticipated record, Brantley combined his passions – music, motorcycles and military – partnering with Harley-Davidson and Folds of Honor for a six-day trek from Athens, GA, to Arlington, VA. To help honor some of our nation’s heroes, names of fallen soldiers adorned a tour bus that also made the journey. Brantley started the celebration with a sold-out concert at the Georgia Theatre, a venue the Georgia native had always dreamed of selling out, and did early in his career. The Georgia native made stops along the way to perform acoustic sets and sign autographs at various Best Buy, Harley-Davidson and Walmart retail locations. The ride culminated on Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery where Brantley had the honor of laying a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with Folds of Honor scholarship recipient Sarah White. See highlights from the week here.

The album’s lead single, “Bottoms Up,” previously scored the #1 spot on both Country radio charts and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA for sales exceeding 1 million digital downloads.

Featuring labelmates Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett, Brantley's next single “Small Town Throwdown” was the “most added” at Country radio last week with nearly 80 stations on.

JUST AS I AM follows Brantley's previous Platinum-certified album HALFWAY TO HEAVEN.

Brantley Gilbert Honors American Heroes and Entertains Thousands of Diehard Fans Throughout "Athens To Arlington" Journey

    May 27, 2014 0 Comments

Country star Brantley Gilbert traveled nearly 3,000 miles last week to launch his new studio album JUST AS I AM (The Valory Music Co.). Officially dubbed “Athens To Arlington," Brantley and some of his closest friends embarked on a six-day motorcycle ride to simultaneously honor local armed forces heroes and entertain thousands of fans. The motorcade of nearly 20 departed Athens, GA, on May 21, making stops in 11 cities along the way. The chart-topper performed some of his first new music in four years, including the Platinum-certified #1 hit “Bottoms Up,” and signed autographs for loyal fans. Watch highlights here.

The trek included stops at tour partners Harley-Davidson, Best Buy and Walmart's various retail locations. Additionally, Brantley honored scholarship recipients of families of wounded or lost military personnel with help from national charity Folds of Honor.

“From riding motorcycles with my 'brothers' to performing for my fans to honoring those who gave us our freedom ... this journey has been unreal,” said Brantley. “The BG Nation showed up for each and every event and never disappointed. Thank you to Harley-Davidson and Folds of Honor for joining me on this incredible week!”

On May 25, the Georgia native also competed against NASCAR driver Kurt Bush to complete the “double” — an attempt known professionally in motorsports to compete in both the Indy 500 and the Coke 600, which occur on the same day. While Brantley wasn’t behind the wheel, he attended both events where his new album cover spanned the hoods of Indycar driver Sage Karam and NASCAR driver Jamie McMurry.

Reaching a pinnacle moment on Memorial Day (May 26), Brantley received a tour of Arlington National Cemetery just outside of Washington, DC, and was granted the honor of presenting a wreath at the coveted Tomb of the Unknown Soldier along with Folds of Honor scholarship recipient Sarah White.
