TEAM BIG MACHINE RACES TO VICTORY

October 28, 2013 By AT INAUGURAL DAN WHELDON PRO-AM KARTING CHALLENGE

Team Big Machine sped into first place during the inaugural Dan Wheldon Pro-Am Karting Challenge last Saturday (10/26) at New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, IN. The winning foursome included Big Machine Label Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta; Mark Borchetta; Marino Franchitti and Clive Wheldon, who raced in honor of their late friend and well-known race champion. Created as a way for Dan’s family to carry on his legacy and support the Alzheimer’s Association, a charity close to Dan, the event raised over $100,000.

"Dan Wheldon was a fantastic human being and a brilliant race driver. Our sponsorship of Dan's 2011 Indy 500 victory will forever be a life-highlight for me and everyone at the Big Machine Label Group, said Scott Borchetta. “That we were able to honor Dan alongside Dan's widow, Susie Wheldon, and so many of the top Indy Car drivers with such an incredible event is a wonderful reminder to how many people Dan touched."

Other racers who participated included newly crowned Izod Indy Car Champion Scott Dixon, 2013 Indy 500 Pole Sitter Ed Carpenter, Nashville's own Indy Car series competitor Josef Newgarden, multi-race winner James Hinchcliffe and newly crowned Firestone Indy Lights champion Sage Karam.
