(AUDIO) Family Will Always Come First For Tim McGraw

April 7, 2013

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will be married 17 years in October, making them a rare example of a celebrity couple that has managed to maintain a successful marriage and raise three daughters while navigating their high profile careers. Tim says it helped that both of their careers were already established when they got married, but the biggest secret to the success of their family is that they decided early on family would always come first. “We made a conscious decision when we got married that no matter what, if we were going to start a family that that was going to be our first priority and everything else was sorta just gonna find it’s place,” explains Tim. “For better or worse, for our careers better or worse or whatever, that’s always been our core understanding and our core principal, is putting our family first.” Not only has that principle helped them maintain a healthy marriage, but Tim also says, “I think that’s paid off in our kids and their lives and how we’ve given them as much of a normal life as we can in a situation that they’re in.” Tim just released his new single “Highway Don’t Care,” featuring Taylor Swift and he’s preparing to launch his Two Lanes of Freedom Tour next month.

“I say this, because it’s always a caveat to us because our careers were really well established when we got married. So our careers were up and running really hard. So, we made a conscious decision when we got married that no matter what, if we were going to start a family that that was going to be our first priority and everything else was sorta just gonna find it’s place. For better or worse, for our careers better or worse or whatever, that’s always been our core understanding and our core principal, is putting our family first. And I think that’s paid off in our kids and their lives and how we’ve given them as much of a normal life as we can in a situation that they’re in.”
