(AUDIO) Tim McGraw Relies On Fans To Keep His Tour Interesting

April 21, 2013

Tim McGraw will kick off his Two Lanes of Freedom Tour on May 2nd in Birmingham, Alabama and he’s counting on the fans to help make it a great experience. Having played so many tours in his career he says the way he keeps things fresh and interesting is by feeding off the energy of the fans. “There’s good nights and there’s bad nights,” he explains, “but what you try to do is you go out and you sorta have this unwritten contract between you and the fans that you’re just gonna give everything up to the music and just sort of let it crank it up and fall into this flow.” Obviously he puts a lot of thought into things like set lists, lighting and staging, but he says “Ultimately, you have to get there and just sorta agree to just spend some time. And I think that’s what we do when we’re out there.” Tim will be joined on the road by Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft on the tour that will visit 30 cities through July. You can see a list of cities and dates for the tour here.

Tim McGraw – new tour how different :33

“When you go out there with the fans, it’s sort of this conducive environment that you try to create where there’s so much energy. There’s good nights and there’s bad nights. But what you try to do is you go out and you sorta – you have this unwritten contract between you and the fans that you’re sorta just gonna give everything up to the music and just sort of let it crank it up and sort of fall into this flow. It’s great to have this great stage, which we always love to have the stage. It makes us have fun up there, doing the lights and all that stuff. And it’s good visual for the fans but ultimately, you have to get there and just sorta agree to sorta just spend some time. And I think that’s what we do when we’re out there.”
