(AUDIO) Eli Young Band Paid Dues With Hard Work, But Believe Everyone Pays Eventually

August 25, 2013

In today’s world of instant stardom thanks to reality TV, the Eli Young Band doesn’t begrudge anyone who goes that route to start their career, although they’re thankful to have built their career the way they have. “Our outlook on it is that we’ve kinda paved our road in a way that we’re building a foundation that we’ll be able to always turn back to,” says Mike Eli. “You build something, quality, that’s gonna be there for a long time and hopefully, we’ll be making music for a really long time.” While reality TV may open a door for someone he believes, “They still have to pay their dues. They just have to do it in a different way and they have to do it in front of people, a lot of people. Whereas, we got to pay our dues in front of no one. Many times.” Thankfully, these days, they’re getting to play their latest song, “Drunk Last Night” and their hits, like “Crazy Girl” and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” for thousands of people at a time whenever they take the stage.

You build something, quality, that’s gonna be there for a long time and hopefully, we’ll be making music for a really long time. Whereas, we got to pay our dues in front of no one. Many times.”
