(AUDIO) Eli Young Band Uses Technology To Keep In Touch With Growing Fan Base

September 8, 2013

“Early on in our career … our priority was going out after the show and meeting everyone we could. I mean, it was the whole thing of making one fan at a time,” says Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band. But now that the group’s popularity has skyrocketed and they’ve had several hits on the radio, they admit it’s a little trickier to get out and meet all their fans the way they used to. “That gets harder and harder to do as you get bigger and bigger,” says Mike. “It’s not that you don’t want to do it, but you just --- sometimes you just can’t.” One way they’ve found to bridge the gap is through technology and social media, whether it’s by putting together video updates or communicating with the fans through Twitter, “We’ve tried to just make sure that we create new ways for our fans to feel like they’re kind of a part of what we’re doing ‘cause they’re a huge part of what we’re doing and we owe a lot of these people everything. And so, we just want to make sure that we let them know that.” The guys also find that Twitter and Facebook are great ways to get feedback from their fans about things like their new single, “Drunk Last Night” and their live shows.
