(AUDIO) Taylor Swift Says "Red" Helped To Shape and Define Latest Album

July 7, 2013

Taylor Swift’s new single is the title track off her album, Red, and she says the song played a crucial role in helping to shape and define the entire album. “’Red’ is a song that I wrote halfway through making this album and it changed what this album became,” says Taylor. “Because this song is about correlating different emotions to different colors. And it hit me all of a sudden that most of the emotions I felt in this process of making this album were red emotions. All the intense ones. The happy and the angry end of the spectrum and it really changed my outlook on where this record was going.” As “Red” came to life as a song it also helped to define the sound of the rest of the album because Taylor says, “To me this song is very different, very descriptive and it has an edge to it that, to me, kinda expanded what I wanted to do.”
