(AUDIO) Taylor Swift's Latest Single Defined Her Entire Album

August 18, 2013

Taylor Swift’s latest album and her single are both called Red, and she says that became the most appropriate title for her album because of what the color symbolized. When she wrote “Red” she says, “It was a song about kinda correlating the emotions you went through in a breakup to different colors. It talks about blue and dark gray and then eventually admits that the reason it’s impossible to forget someone is if loving them was red: if it was intense; if it was passionate. And that doesn’t matter if it’s intensely good or intensely bad. It’s intensely unforgettable if it was red.” Since most of Taylor’s songs are about love and relationships at every phase and stage she felt like Red and the idea of various colors representing the spectrum of emotions she was singing about was the best way to sum up the album.

“I think, for me, red defined this album because I wrote a song called ‘Red’ and it was a song about kinda correlating the emotions you went through in a breakup to different colors. And that doesn’t matter if it’s intensely good or intensely bad. It’s intensely unforgettable if it was red.”
