(AUDIO) Tim McGraw Knew Taylor and Keith Were Perfect for "Highway Don't Care"

May 26, 2013

Tim McGraw’s latest single, “Highway Don’t Care,” is already sitting in the top five on the charts. The song features Taylor Swift singing with him and Keith Urban accompanying them on guitar, and Tim says, “First, when I heard the demo of the song, I knew that I wanted Taylor for that female part. It just fit her voice perfectly. I’ve wanted to do a song with Taylor for a long time.” Tim especially liked Taylor for this particular duet because he says, “What made it even more perfect, it’s not any sort of love interest or anything, what her part is in the song. It’s sort of a third-person narrative that comes through from this radio. So that made it a really neat way to introduce somebody else into your song.” Keith Urban is someone else Tim has wanted to work with for a long time. “I’m a huge fan of Keith’s,” says Tim. “Every time we’d run into each other it was like, ‘Have we found a song? Have we found a song?’ and we just never found a song that was right.” Although Keith doesn’t sing on “Highway Don’t Care,” Tim says, “I love his guitar playing. I mean, I’d love to sing a song with him as well, but this song just seemed perfect for him on the guitar. When I sent it over to him, he tore it up. I mean, he really laid something great down.”
