(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Knew His Wife Was The One For Years

July 7, 2013

Thomas Rhett’s latest single, “It Goes Like This,” is about a girl who has that special something that inspires him to write a song about her. As a newlywed, we wondered what it was about his wife Lauren that inspired Thomas to do more than just write a song about her, but to marry her. “Obviously, I’ve known Lauren since first grade,” says Thomas. “We actually dated when we were in high school, I think we were fifteen years old, and dated for about six months. It was a pretty funny high school relationship. But ever since I was fifteen, I’ve always had this inkling that I was gonna marry this girl.” After their relationship in high school they both went on to date other people for quite a while, but Thomas always suspected he and Lauren would eventually get back together, and they did. Then it only took him six months to decide to ask her to marry him because he says, “She’s just the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most caring, kind-hearted person that I’ve ever met and it just really drew me to her.”

Thomas Rhett – what was it about Lauren :31

“Obviously, I’ve known Lauren since first grade. We actually dated when we were in high school, I think we were fifteen years old, and dated for about six months. It was a pretty funny high school relationship. But ever since I was fifteen, I’ve always had this inkling that I was gonna marry this girl. Even though we both dated other people for a long time, I, for some reason, I felt that like we were gonna come back around and try this thing one more time. And we did. And then we got engaged six months later. So she’s just the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most caring, kind-hearted person that I’ve ever met and it just really drew me to her.”
