NASHVILLE, TN (October 13, 2016) – Big Machine Music announced today the signing of Luke Combs to an Exclusive Songwriting Agreement in a joint venture with 50 Egg Music, owned by fellow BMM writer Jonathan Singleton. Combs has developed his songwriting chops for the last five years and relocated to Nashville in 2014 to pursue his talents fulltime. The River House Artists/Columbia Nashville singer/songwriter co-wrote his debut single, “Hurricane,” which is currently in the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. One of Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know,” he also co-wrote each song on his forthcoming album, This One’s For You.
“I’m over the moon to have signed a publishing deal with Big Machine Music and Jonathan Singleton,” shared Luke Combs. “It’s been a goal for me to sign my first publishing deal and I couldn’t be happier to be with such a devoted team.”
The North Carolina native joins an accomplished roster – including Singleton (Tim McGraw, Tyler Farr), Laura Veltz (Maren Morris, Cassadee Pope), Josh Thompson (Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean), and Fancy Hagood (Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande) – who have collectively tallied scores of major label album cuts and over a dozen charted singles in 2016 to date, including two currently in the top ten. Combs will continue their efforts, notching cuts through the industry with his clever hooks and storytelling instincts.
“At the core of Luke’s artistry is strong songwriting that is translating to thousands of fans on an emotional level,” shared Mike Molinar, General Manager of Big Machine Music. “Jonathan and the entire BMM team are excited to help Luke carve out his path as a songwriter to complement his budding career as a recording artist.” Jonathan Singleton added, “The first time I saw Luke play, I knew I was watching something great. I’m super excited about this new joint venture and equally as excited about my new friend.”
Combs will be joining Big Machine Label Group superstar Brantley Gilbert’s DEVIL DON’T SLEEP TOUR in 2017. He is currently on the road with Corey Smith for the WEST BOUND AND DOWN TOUR, playing more than fifteen shows in 30 days with stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Seattle, Portland, Ft. Worth and more. He will play Nashville’s Exit/In on October 19 and make his Grand Ole Opry debut on October 29.
