MIDLAND COMBAT THE BLUES WITH A NIGHT ON THE TOWN IN NEW TRACK “GLASS HALF EMPTY”

NASHVILLE, TN (May 23, 2025) – GRAMMY-nominated trio Midland provides the perfect soundtrack for a night out on the town with their new song “Glass Half Empty,” out today via Big Machine Records. The track finds the group fully embracing their signature Neotraditional, Texas-influenced Country sound that fans have known and loved since their breakout hit “Drinkin’ Problem.” Written by band members Jess Carson and Cameron Duddy alongside Jeff Hyde and Ryan Tyndell, the feel-good track transports listeners to a vibrant Western honky tonk where some good music and carefree two-stepping has the power to fill your cup and make you feel like everything is going to be all right. With first-class Country instrumentation and the band’s standout harmonies, “Glass Half Empty” is an irresistibly catchy barroom anthem and further proof of the beloved group’s ability to craft modern music with classic themes at the forefront.

“I wish we had this song in our canon when we were playing Poodies Roadhouse or The Broken Spoke years ago,” shares Cameron Duddy. “It’s got more guts than anything we’ve put out and feels like the sweaty nights we spent in the Texas Honky Tonks where we got our start.”

“‘Glass Half Empty’ is what I would call a ‘Honky Tonk Bar Stormer’ – an uptempo Country banger carefully handcrafted to get your ass off the bar stool, lift your spirits and the spirit in your glass and get to pushing some sawdust around the dance floor,” adds Mark Wystrach.

Jess Carson invites fans to “crank up that volume knob ‘til it breaks clean off – this is your new Friday night anthem!”

Midland premiered “Glass Half Empty” in front of 80,000 fans during their “top-notch performance” (Billboard) at Stagecoach Festival last month, which included surprise appearances from Tracy Lawrence, Noah Cyrus, Marcus King, and their “I Wish You Would” duet partner Mackenzie Carpenter. Praised as “one of the best songs of the young year” (Country Central), “I Wish You Would” is currently climbing the charts at Country Radio.

The official music video for “Glass Half Empty” is out now. Directed by Harper Smith, the video features the band performing the track on their incredible barroom-inspired Stagecoach set. This summer, Midland will perform at various fairs and festivals including Million Dollar Music Fest (5/25), CMA Fest (6/6), and more before embarking on their European tour which will make stops in the UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. ABOUT MIDLAND: GRAMMY® nominees Midland have sought to reintroduce the Western plains, Laurel Canyon-cum-Bakersfield and Lone Star honky tonks to Country music since coming together at a friend’s wedding over common influences and the need for a return to this sort of post-Urban Cowboy Country. For lead singer Mark Wystrach, bassist/vocalist Cameron Duddy and guitarist/vocalist Jess Carson, the five-times platinum hit “Drinkin’ Problem” set the stage for their critically acclaimed On The Rocks and No. 1 Billboard Top Country Albums debut Let It Roll to unite classic country fans, hipsters and media including Entertainment WeeklyGQThe Washington PostVogueEsquireVarietyRolling Stone and NPR. Based in Dripping Springs, Texas, the trio of songwriters who developed their sound at Tornillo, Texas’ storied Sonic Ranch have been building a following that’s sold-out the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show, packed a multiple-night stand at Ft. Worth’s iconic Billy Bob’s and re-opened North Hollywood’s legendary Palomino Club for one night only. Bringing listeners a resurgence of their thick harmonies, sad melodies, tart lyrics and steel guitar with their critically-acclaimed Dave Cobb-produced album Barely Blue (Big Machine Records), the retro-Nuevo trio has grown from bar band to an in-demand headliner. For more on Midland and tour updates, visit MidlandOfficial.com
