MIDLAND DROPS DREAMY VERSION OF GLEN CAMPBELL’S 1968 HIT “WICHITA LINEMAN”

Tickets for Up In Texas Tour On Sale at 10am Local Today

NASHVILLE, TN (November 17, 2023) – Grammy®-nominated Midland shares their version of “Wichita Lineman” on the heels of announcing their Up In Texas Tour, which goes on sale at 10am local time. Originally performed by Glen Campbell and hailed as “the greatest song ever written” by Nobel Prize-winning songwriter Bob Dylan, the 1968 hit has long since been a favorite of the band and a staple in the trio’s striking live set.

Listen to “Wichita Lineman” HERE.

Produced by the band themselves, Midland puts a dreamy spin on “the first existential Country song” (Independent) and charmingly channels the longing and pondering feeling Jimmy Webb turned into a song after seeing a lone worker atop a telephone pole on the side of a long, deserted stretch of road. Adding an electrifying outro and the trio’s signature soaring harmonies to their take on the Country music classic, the neo-traditionalists honor the song that inspires them while taking it into 2023.

“It’s haunting melodies and lush arrangements hark back to a time when music was more sophisticated and the stories more colorful… A notion that has inspired and continues to influence our sound and songwriting,” says Midland’s Wystrach. “The heartache and longing in the sparse lyrics provide ample space for soulful vocals that ache and move with the beat without even saying much.”

Earning a reputation as a wickedly entertaining live act, selling out  the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater (multiple times), Midland will set sail on their very own The Last Resort Cruise in 2024. Additionally, to the delight of their zealous fans, on Tuesday Midland announced their Up in Texas 2024 Tour, that kicks off in San Antonio in February.  For more on Midland and tour updates, visit MidlandOfficial.com
