LOS ANGELES, CA (December 8, 2021) – CMA Female Vocalist of the Year CARLY PEARCE performed her deeply personal “29” during The Voice live semifinals last night on NBC. Watch her show opening number here.

“Writing 29 brought me out of such a lost space and helped me heal so feeling the connections these songs have created reminded me that we’re not alone,” conveys Carly. “I was so grateful to share ‘29’ for my first appearance on The Voice! As my world shifted from despair to joy, I know the value of a show that gives dreamers like me a chance to sing their truth.”

The title track featured on 29 and expanded 29: WRITTEN IN STONE have all received massive fan praise and critical acclaim:

“she retraces a year of upheaval and pain […] These songs address neglect (‘What He Didn’t Do’), unfaithfulness (‘Never Wanted to Be That Girl’ with Ashley McBryde) and loss (‘Show Me Around’), but ultimately aspire to happier days, with Pearce affirming ‘I know somewhere somebody’s out there/ And when I meet him he’ll make sense of all this mess’ on the closing track ‘Mean It This Time.’”

Billboard 50 Best Albums of 2021

“Few expressions of heartache are this clear-headed, this self-incriminating in the name of healing. ‘Let’s just call it what it was,’ Pearce sings in her lonesome alto.”
NPR 100 Best Songs

“she turned her grief and emotion into the instant-classic EP 29 (and the expanded version 29: WRITTEN IN STONE) chronicling that transitional age with courage, empathy and humor.”
Rolling Stone Top 50 Albums

“A brief marriage, a messy divorce, a helluva record.”
The New York Times Best of 2021

Carly’s Top 25-and-climbing “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” also scored a coveted slot on Billboard’s Top Songs of 2021. “As Carly Pearce learns the hard way on her spellbinding divorce EP 29, real life has a nasty tendency of turning you into different variations of That Girl, in ways you never would’ve previously imagined. ‘Never Wanted to Be That Girl,’ a gut-punch duet with fellow modern country exemplar Ashley McBryde (found on the EP’s Written in Stone deluxe edition), sees her becoming a particularly humiliating version of That Girl: one confronted with increasing evidence that her man isn’t actually her man at all, who now must decide how much attention she can bear to pay to what’s right in front of her.”

Recently wrapping THE 29 TOUR, Carly performed the entire album each night and ended each show with an encore of her 2020 CMA Musical Event and 2021 ACM Music Event and Single of the Yearawards winning “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”

For a girl who left her Kentucky home as a teenage to perform at Dollywood, Carly’s dreams are all coming true in this magical season. The Grand Ole Opry member fittingly received her invitation from Dolly Parton. Carly joined editor Joe Hudak to speak about her profound influence for Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Albums’ Podcast: Hear Dolly Parton Break Down Her ‘Coat of Many Colors.’
