CARLY PEARCE’S 29: WRITTEN IN STONE RECEIVES RAVE REVIEWS

NASHVILLE, TN (October 5, 2021) —  Carly Pearce went into her heart, followed her roots and emerged from a year of great disappointment with 29, stirred by the loss of her longtime champion, producer and friend busbee and end of her 11-month marriage. Scraping away what she knew, the emotionally-charged vocalist has always written from her truth – and that 29 didn’t finish this chapter, so the Kentucky-born CMA Awards Female Vocalist and Album of the Year nominee returned to the studio for the 15-song  29: WRITTEN IN STONE.

“29 was started in such a raw, immediate moment, and it captures that shell-shock, that will to survive and get through it in tact,” Pearce says. “But as you go through grief, understanding what happened, you start to realize what’s important, how things go wrong, how you have to take care of yourself. Having fans tell me they were so glad I didn’t shy away from the hard stuff, I realized they deserved the whole story, the fact that it will get better.”

The critics agreed. Termed “stoic and affecting” by The New York Times and “a modern country music masterpiece” by Holler, Saving Country Music proffered, “a country traditionalist, she’s mashing the accelerator, and doing so unapologetically,” Forbes cited Pearce’s affinity for “writing in a deeper way,” and entertainment industry trade Variety raved, “If you’ve got a hankering for some sad-ass country music, happy days are here again.”

Her both sides of being played “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” a duet with fellow CMA Female Vocalist nominee and co-writer Ashley McBryde, was the most added song at Country radio with 74 stations putting the power-lament into immediate rotation. Billboard noted “the shock and pain that follow as the truth comes out” while Grammy.com realized “the kind of impact her vulnerability has had” on Pearce’s writing. Rolling Stone Country calls the track “a top-flight cheating song […] ditches the campy melodrama for a bracing jolt of regret and clarity.”

Pearce, who left high school to perform five shows a day at Dollywood, has found a way to connect classic Country with contemporary aesthetics. A Grand Ole Opry member who won the 2020 CMA Musical Event and 2021 ACM Music Event and Single of the Year Awards for her No. 1 duet with Lee Brice “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” Pearce has maintained her commitment to keeping the music real.

“Messy, unexpected, life happens to a lot of people,” Pearce. “Not everyone wants to talk about it, maybe they’re ashamed or feel like they failed. But since 29 came out, so many people have shared their stories with me and hearing these songs made them feel like they weren’t the only one. That’s what I always loved about Country music, even the stuff I wouldn’t dare tell somebody else, there was always a song with what I was feeling, too.”

Pearce is going to get even more personal with her fans this Fall. After spending the summer on tour with Lady A, she will kick off THE 29 TOUR on November 4 in Des Moines, IA with the headline dates running through Minneapolis, Chicago, New York City, Washington DC, Nashville, Richmond, VA and Bloomington, IN.

“29 and 29: WRITTEN IN STONE have given my fans and I a deeper connection,” Pearce offers. “I have always been a very personal writer. ‘Every Little Thing’ is absolutely that. But having opened up even more on these two projects, this tour is going to be old friends coming together, some of whom I’ve never met, and sharing the story of how I got here. When things go wrong, there’s nothing better than having someone in your corner. Maybe for somebody coming to listen, my life can give them that same corner! And if nothing else, we’ll laugh and have fun about it.”
