NASHVILLE, TN (October 7, 2020) – ACM Awards New Male Artist of the Year RILEY GREEN struck a chord with “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” performing the sentimental ballad on the CBS telecast, and today celebrating PLATINUM certification from the RIAA. The chart-topping Alabama native commemorated over one million in consumption alongside his Big Machine Label Group team with Big Machine Label Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta and BMLG Records President/CEO Jimmy Harnen presenting a special plaque.
Sharing writing credits on “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” posthumously with his family patriarchs, Riley honors their memory and a connection that has grown beyond his lineage. A fan posted a clip from a live show before the powerful track was even recorded and the response confirmed this was something special. People from all backgrounds relate to the song’s message and it has become a standout on Riley’s debut album DIFFERENT ‘ROUND HERE (BMLG Records).
Riley kept the focus on the lyrics, recruiting a sold-out crowd in Phenix City, AL to sing along with him and his guitar for the video. That simplicity offered a powerful visual that recently earned a CMT Awards Breakthrough Video of the Year nomination. Fans can VOTE NOW through October 12 for the video and tune into the 2020 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday, October 21 at 8/7c to watch him perform on the show.
The momentum for his latest release IF IT WASN’T FOR TRUCKS (BMLG Records) continues with Billboard noting the “accessible, winning songs” and American Songwriter proclaiming his “storytelling talents shine bright.” Listen here:
Riley began 2020 on Jason Aldean’s WE BACK TOUR after spending 2019 on the road with Brad Paisley and Jon Pardi, while also headlining his own GET THAT MAN A BEER TOUR. Now, as touring is on pause, he started a bi-weekly YouTube Golden Saw Series, presented by Busch. Watch the performances and stories behind the music here: Visit for more updates.
