NASHVILLE, TN (May 30, 2025) – Acclaimed singer/songwriter Ryan Hurd releases Midwest Rock & Roll (Deluxe), out today via Big Machine Records. The GRAMMY® Award nominated artist recorded four new tracks for the deluxe album at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London earlier this year. The expanded project features a brand-new original song with rising Country singer Carter Faith (“JP’s Hard Luck Diner, Permanently Closed”), a reimagined version of the fan-favorite track “Paul.,” and two Paul McCartney-inspired covers – The Beatles’ “In My Life” and Paul McCartney and Wings’ “Let Me Roll It.” Building on the introspective, Midwestern-inspired backdrop firmly established in the original 12-track album, Midwest Rock & Roll (Deluxe) adds more melancholy and grunge-forward Country reflection to Hurd’s sophomore album that was originally released on March 21.

Hurd teams up with singer/songwriter Carter Faith for their new track “JP’s Hard Luck Diner, Permanently Closed.” The song tells the tale of a beloved local diner set against the backdrop of Hurd’s home state of Michigan. As foreshadowed by its name, JP’s Hard Luck Diner was forever destined for ruin due to the lack of winter foot traffic in the popular summer tourist town. The track features Hurd and Faith delivering haunting vocals and heartbreaking harmonies that firmly plant listeners in the run-down and abandoned restaurant that was once warm and lively.
“I was in Traverse City, MI, for a wedding, and the closest restaurant to the hotel was a place called JP’s Hard Luck Diner. As soon as I opened it in maps, I saw ‘permanently closed’ in red letters,” shares Hurd. “They called their shot, and the irony made me laugh. I brought the title to Carter the next week, and I love this song we wrote about a diner we’ve never been to.”

Earlier this month, Hurd released “Paul. (London Sessions),” a new and meaningful take on his Paul McCartney-inspired track “Paul.” Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, the song is infused with the kind of magic that can only be bottled when the stars align for Hurd to sing an ode to his hero in the very studio where McCartney recorded songs that inspired Hurd to pursue music himself. He continues to honor McCartney with the deluxe album’s remaining two tracks, The Beatles’ “In My Life” and Paul McCartney and Wings’ “Let Me Roll It.”
